Answer: The paddle brush is better for longer hair. The original oval shaped brush is better for shorter. Both designs, however, will work. I have long hair so I use the paddle brush because it gets the tangles out faster. -

Answer: Do not know exact measurements. A little bigger than a regular brush. It is an amazing brush. I have naturally curly thick hair. I have no trouble brushing through my hair. -

Answer: I personally bought this brush to make it easier to comb through my natural curly thick hair. Not sure about giving volume to your hair.
