what is the better size for a baby about to be 2?
Answer: The 6-24 month size fits my 22 month old just fine and he even has room to grow in it. I have the 2-8 year old size for my 4 year old and there is plenty of room for him to grow into it. There is an adjustable pull on the hat to make the hat size smaller. Unless your baby had a really large head, I would say the 6-24 month size should fit. -

Is the brim soft enough where baby can lay her head back in stroller if worn during a walk?
Answer: yes...the brim is sturdy enough to hold up and shade the baby, but soft enough to fold down and tuck behind baby's head. -
