Educational Psychology Editorial Review
"Understanding and Using Educational Theories" is an accessible and easy-to-understand book that provides an introduction to various educational philosophies. The book is well-structured, with each chapter focusing on a different educator or pedagogue. It offers a clear summary of their ideas, a brief biography, an explanation of their theories, connections to other theorists, criticisms of their theories, practical applications in the classroom, reflection tasks, and a summary with a glossary. Customers have found this book to be helpful in developing teaching practices and writing essays. It provides a simplified overview of educational theorists and their theories, making it a useful resource for those looking to gain background information. The concise nature of each chapter makes it easy to refer to when needed. However, some customers have mentioned that the book may not be comprehensive enough for those seeking more in-depth study. It lacks references to major theorists such as Froebel, Piaget, and Vygotsky. Additionally, a few customers have found repetitive information within each chapter, causing them to lose interest or feel bored while reading. Overall, "Understanding and Using Educational Theories" is praised for its clear and concise presentation of key educational theories, making it a valuable resource for those looking to familiarize themselves with the subject.
