Heylin expertly presents the detail of Dylan's switch to electric guitar and the hostility and shifting fan base he experienced, aided by period first-person accounts and interviews. The book contains occasional period interviews with Dylan, ephemera, and two sections of black and white photos. Although the text was a little hard to follow at times cutting away to quotes from past reviews, the book is a great read and is a must-have for Dylan fans or people who are interested in a pivotal period in rock history.
