Editorial Review
In "Where You Are Going To," Robin Trower delivers a compelling blend of blues-rock that showcases not only his unparalleled guitar prowess but also significant vocal growth. The album is characterized by its funky undertones and a laid-back sonic ambience, reminiscent of Trower's earlier signature style yet offering fresh, invigorating elements. Many reviews highlight the emotional depth of the tracks, particularly the tribute to his late wife, which resonates with listeners on a profound level. Trower’s guitar work, marked by a rich tone and expressive vibrato, continues to be a linchpin of his musical identity, capable of elicitng emotions that transcend words. Fans note that the album encapsulates strong midtempo and intense tracks, praising the clarity and warmth of the recording—perfect for both contemplative listening and energetic environments. While some reviewers express sentiments about the band’s performance not fully matching Trower’s level, they acknowledge the strong material and excellent guitar work present throughout the album. Trower’s continued evolution at the age of 71 inspires audiences and maintains his status as a revered figure in music. Those who have followed his career will find this album a delightful addition to his discography, even as it echoes elements from past classics like "Bridge of Sighs." Overall, "Where You Are Going To" is hailed as a landmark achievement, on par with his earlier works, and likely to please both long-time devotees and newcomers alike. **
