The ball works on carpets and other surfaces. The purple slider on the side of the ball makes clicking sound and is not a recorded response like the other animal sound. It is designed with babies in mind. Babies enjoy crawling after the ball and never seem to get tired of chasing it. The toy encourages babies to crawl. The downside of the product is that it hardly ever rolls. Babies mainly just want the turtle on top and they get frustrated as it doesn't come off. Also, the ball broke after a month for one of the customers.
