- Only one microcontroller output required for LED control
- Each LED is individually addressable with a constant current draw of approximately 18 mA
- Requires a real-time microcontroller like AVR, Arduino, PIC, mbed, etc. and is not suitable for Linux-based microcontrollers
- Includes NeoPixel library for Arduino, compatible with Atmel AVR microcontrollers with a clock rate of 8 MHz and higher
