The product has a relatively long shelf life when not opened, but once the bottle is open, the shelf life is cut in half. The product needs adequate aeration, and the filters must be changed before adding it to the tank as it leaves a brownish pile near the corners or ornaments. The product has worked for most customers to keep their tanks healthy and clean; however, some customers have reported that the product did not work for them.
