Answer: Inside the box, you will find screws and plastic plugs. Use the screws to hold the mounting base onto the ceiling by drilling holes, inserting the plastic plugs, and attaching the base with the screws. -

If I wanted to buy a new one, could I use an existing base plate?
Answer: If the old alarm is the same model (10Y29), then yes, you can re-use the old base plate. -

Is this suitable for a kitchen containing a gas boiler?
Answer: Yes, it is suitable for use in a kitchen. It is recommended to also have a heat alarm in the kitchen and a carbon monoxide alarm at least 1 meter away from the gas boiler, but no more than 3 meters away. -

Can I just use good quality double-sided tape?
Answer: We cannot confirm the viability of double-sided tape for mounting the alarm to the ceiling. It is recommended to use adhesive or magnetic pads specifically designed for this purpose. -

Answer: The alarm will sound when it detects smoke. It will automatically stop once the smoke disperses. Additionally, there is a switch on the back of the alarm to manually turn it on and off. -

Answer: Twist/rotate the main body of the alarm until it clicks off the base fixed to the ceiling. -

Answer: The base diameter is about 100mm. -

Answer: I don't know for sure, but it's recommended to fit everything as new just in case. -

Answer: No, the Kidde alarm does not require a power source. It has a sealed 10-year life battery.
