How does usbc differ from the thunderbolt usb-c option? i see thunderbolt usbc is more expensive
Answer: USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 share the same physical connection type (USB-C). USB-C devices can be connected to Thunderbolt 3 ports, as TB3 supports USB-C devices. However, TB3 drives cannot be connected to USB-C ports on computer. So, this USB-C drive will connect to USB-C ports, Thunderbolt 3 ports, or using included cable, USB 3.0/2.0 ports. -

Will this work with older macbook air models. i have an early 2014 mojave
Answer: This LaCie Drive works best with select MacBook models 2015-current. The operating system required to use this drive must be OS X v10.5 or later. -

Can my Canon M100 connect directly to the hard drive? Or is it better to download onto my Mac, then transfer?
Answer: Not directly. I use mine like a thumb drive. Just import to your desktop then save to the Lacie. Then delete from desktop -

Does it work with Snow Leopard 10.6.8?
Answer: Mac OS 10.6.8 would not be running on a Mac that had USB-C ports. However, the drive comes with a USB-C to USB-3.0 Adapter. That being the case, the USB-3.0 plug should fit into the USB port on your Mac. Note: Given the age of your Mac that runs MacOS 10.6.8, is probably using the slower original USB chip set, not the faster data transfer speeds found with computers using the USB-2, USB-3 or USB-C chip sets, the data transport speed between the Mac and the drive should not be any faster than any other original USB supported drives. All USB configurations are backward compatible, so it will work. -

what is the speed
Answer: i can answer this, but no connection stated, USB_C runs at 5Gb./ or 10. and there chip inside is not stated nor is the drive, but the hDD the most fast is seagate 6GB (0r 4) and runs about 200MB/s, just it. so in most cases (not your PC) the speed will be limited by the DRIVE INSIDE>. it is just a HDD drive, nothing magical They dont tell this fact my guess so they can put in 3 or top makers of actual drive, which ever is the most cheap, the day of manufacture( JIT rules) and for that reason no spec. that is why I buy empty case and then I buy hdd and put it in, to get my beloved fast seagate. -

Answer: I know nothing about ipad pros. My machine is a Macbook Pro. -

Will this work to transfer pictures from my iphone x?? and if so what cable will i need?
Answer: You will need a computer to transfer files from an iphone to an external drive. You can't directly plug your phone into the drive and transfer files, the computer has to be an intermediary. -

Answer: Yes, but comes formatted for Mac so does need a quick Windows NTFS formatting -

Is this drive afps or macos extended (journaled) encryptable in disk utility on a mac?
