It is easy to use, but the bar graph display is unnecessary decoration. It can be used for measuring the brightness of car headlamps, and the lux meter HP-881D works well for measuring red coloured light but not blue coloured light. Customers have discovered new uses for it and found it to be great for doing residential lighting for homes. Some customers have had issues with its reliability as it failed to turn on during field use. The device is relatively inexpensive compared to other quantum meters and works great for determining the amount of light plants are getting.
