Answer: If the stem is the same as most percolator stems, then it won't fit. I have a Farberware stove top pot and the spring is too small to get on and it's half the size it was supposed to be. $5 for a spring that size that I couldn't use...don't waste your money. -

Answer: Use a Faberware non-electric percolator. This spring is perfect for this coffee pot and fits like a glove. I bought two. Dimensions are: Top Opening is 7/8 inch, bottom opening is 3/8 inch and height (top to bottom of spring) is 1 inch. Hope that helps you. -

What exactly is the purpose of the spring? I bought a farberware pot and it had this spring on the tube of the basket holde is that where it belongs?
Answer: Will the stem go through the spring? If so, it probably goes on the stem under the basket to lift the basket. If the stem will not fit through the spring, it goes on the bottom of the pot as shown wide side down to hold up the stem. -

Answer: The spring was perfect for my Farberware small perculator (50 years old). Otherwise, I don't know about other coffee makers. -
